Representatives of the Roma Women’s Center „Romnjako Ilo“ on the first ELC in Vienna

Vesna Cerimovic and Danica Jovanovic spoke on the first ELC in Vienna about „fefying sexuality among Roma women“ emphasizing problem of early marriages of Roma girls and heteronormativity that is imposed to Roma girls at the early age.
OAK Foundation in partnership with the national TRAG Foundation from Belgrade held the Conference “Empowerment of women`s organizations and movements for fights against violence: New perspectives and measuring impact”, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from 11 to 12th September, 2017.
SOS telephone services to support women in situations of violence that is provided by women`s non-governmental organizations will be accessible to more women, in particular to Roma women and women with disabilities. Support in the form of grants were received by eight associations that provide this specialized service.
The European Roma Rights Centre ERRC has been informed from its local human rights monitors that in many countries Romani girls do not complete their compulsory education the authorities know this is happening and are not taking action they are supposed to take to make sure Romani girls are in school.
UN Women Office in Serbia and European Commission on 29.05.2017, promoted the start of the three-year programme against violence against women in Serbia “Ending Violence against Women in the Western Balkan Countries and Turkey: Implementing Norms, Changing Minds”.
Association of Roma Novi Bečej participated in the workshop "Monitoring and evaluation as a basis for successful implementation of the National Action Plan of the Republic of Serbia to the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 - Women, Peace and Security”, held on 25th May, 2017 at the premises of the Belgrade’s Centre for security policy in Belgrade.
Roma Women's Center BIBIJA and partner organizations, the Association of Roma Novi Bečej and Roma Women's Center Veliki Crljeni Lazarevac, presented on 25.05.2017, at the EU info center in Belgrade results of 18 month project "Economic empowerment of Roma women: improving the capacity for employment and self-employment".
Two days of sharing experiences, exchange of good practices, foster mutual learning and promote discussion on common challenges encountered when working on gender-based violence against Roma women. The event was organized by the OSF in cooperation with the SURT Foundation in Budapest 23-24.05.2017.
This year’s WAVE conference took place in Berlin and brought together a wide range of practitioners, members of the academia, government representatives and EU and UN experts to discuss pressing issues related to violence against women and children across Europe, including effective measures that can prevent this and the situation of refugee women and racism in Europe.
Sarajevo is hosting international knowledge exchange event on Multisectoral approaches in delivering services to women survivors of violence in Europe and Central Asia, with a focus on models and approaches developed or tested by UN Trust Fund grantees.
