The Association of Roma Novi Becej is 18.5.2022., held the round table in the assembly hall in Novi Becej.

The round table was opened by the president of the Association, Danica Jovanović recalled that today is the Day of remembrance of murdered women, and pointed on statistical data on Femicide in Serbia, as well as the fact that since the beginning of 2022 until this date, 13 women have been murdered in Serbia. All present gave a minute of silence in honor of all murdered women, victims of femicide.

After a minute of silence, the president of the Association thanked to all who came to this event and also reminded the representatives of the institutions about the signed agreements and protocols for cooperation at the local level to prevent violence against women, children, human trafficking and agreements concerning child marriages. She emphasized the importance of the existing mechanisms as such and that it is very important that there is good cooperation at the local level as well as more broadly. She also pointed out that today it is important to sign an internal document on local cooperation on the establishment of an intersectoral team to combat child arranged marriages in the municipality of Novi Becej, which is part of the activities within the project "Speak, it's your turn!" supported by the Norwegian Embassy and the UNWOMEN office in Serbia under the framework of the national initiative "You are not alone!". The signed document commits all the signatories to fight for the strengthening of local cooperation with the aim of ending the negative practice of early child arranged marriages until the adoption of adequate and appropriate legal regulations.

After that, the representative of the local self-government, the Head of the department for public services, Ms. Ivana Dobožanov, spoke. She pointed out that the cooperation with the Association has been good so far, and she hopes for just as good cooperation in the future, and that the agreements and protocols signed with all relevant institutions are very important for work on preventing violence against women and children.

The director of the Centre for Social Work, Mrs. Aleksandar Fabijan, spoke a few words about examples of good practice of joint cooperation between institutions and the SOS Helpline of the Association of Roma Novi Becej, while the concrete example of good practice of joint good cooperation was presented by a consultant at the SOS Helpline.

This was followed by the signing of an internal document on intersectoral cooperation at the local office, which was signed by the Coordinator for Roma issues, the Head of public services, the Pedagogical assistant, the Director of the preschool institution, the Director of CfSR, two consultants of the SOS Helpline, as well as by the president of Association of Roma Novi Becej.
